Accra, May 06, GNA – MTN Mobile Money Limited (MoMo), which operates under MTN Ghana handling Mobile Financial Services, has reassured the public about the security and safety of their mobile money platforms.
Following this, Mobile Money Limited highlighted recent social media posts suggesting that MTN’s systems were breached as part of a cyber security event. They subsequently advised clients to remove their money from these accounts.
A declaration endorsed by Mrs. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, who serves as a Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, was forwarded to the Ghana News Agency. "We would like to reassure all our esteemed customers that the cybersecurity incident did not affect the operations or security of our mobile money systems," the statement further noted.
The statement indicated that none of the customers had lost any money due to the cybersecurity issue, and assured that their MoMo platforms were still safe and secure, with customer funds protected.

The MoMo platform employs state-of-the-art security measures such as end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and continuous monitoring to identify and thwart fraudulent activities, according to the statement.
The statement indicated that the firm will keep working closely with regulatory bodies, cybersecurity specialists, and collaborating organizations to maintain the strictest security protocols.
"We value our customers' concerns and wish to emphasize our dedication to ensuring the security of mobile money services. We encourage both customers and the general public to seek reliable and precise information exclusively from authorized sources provided by Mobile Money Limited and MTN Ghana," the statement read.
