Karachi Kings Appoint Ravi Bopara as New Head Coach

The Karachi Kings have named ex-England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as their new head coach for the forthcoming 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This information was shared through an Instagram post from the team on Friday.

Following the resignation of Phil Simons, who left after just one year due to new obligations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) where he was offered a two-year deal, Bopara has been appointed instead.

Bopara, who was previously an assistant coach last season, has now advanced to the head coaching position, while Muhammad Masroor will take over as the new assistant coach.

The team known as The Kings has been knocked out in the group stage for the past three consecutive seasons. In response to this series of underwhelming showings, they've implemented substantial alterations to their leadership framework.

Earlier this week, the Karachi team underwent yet another change by appointing former Australian opening batsman David Warner as their new captain. Known for his exceptional performance in T20 matches, Warner adds significant leadership expertise to the squad, having previously led several prominent T20 sides, such as those competing in the Big Bash League.

During the PSL-10 Player Draft held on January 13, 2025, at Hazoori Bagh in Lahore, Warner was chosen as Karachi’s top selection in the Platinum category.

PSL 10 is set to kick off on Friday, April 11, 2025, with the reigning champions Islamabad United facing off against the two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
