Lamidi Apapa Seizes Leadership: Fresh Twist in Labour Party Showdown
A new turn of events has surfaced in the ongoing struggle for control within the Labour Party, as Pa Lamidi Apapa has declared his assumption of leadership.

Apapa comes back to stake his claim for Labour Party leadership
However, Apapa asserted that, as the the party’s highest-ranking National Deputy Chairman The Supreme Court's ruling has positioned him favorably to take over from Abure.

In light of the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning all decisions that acknowledged Julius Abure as National Chairman, I, Alhaji Bashiru Lamidi Apapa, who am the most senior Deputy National, and adhering to our party’s constitution under Articles 14(2)(a) and (b), will assume responsibility for managing the operations of our esteemed party starting today in an interim role. Additionally, Alh Farouk Umar Ibrahim has been appointed as National Secretary.

"Our leadership requests that all members of the Labour Party take notice: The National Working Committee of our party for the year 2022 has scheduled a meeting for next Monday, April 14, 2025. This gathering aims to unveil our strategies, entailing the allocation of the National Chairman role to the Northern region and the National Secretary role to the Southern region," the announcement stated.
