Stanbic Bank Bolsters Ho Police Training School Parade with GH₵100K Support

By Michael Foli Jackidy

Ho (V/R), May 8, GNA – As part of its dedication to national security and infrastructure enhancement, Stanbic Bank Ghana has contributed GH₵141,251.50 towards building a contemporary parade ground at the Ho Police Training School within the Volta Region. This donation underscores their ongoing support for institutional growth.

This financial assistance is an integral component of the bank’s wider initiatives toward corporate social responsibility. It was formally handed over by Mr. Harry Opoku-Agyemang, who leads Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank, to ACP William Yankee Acolatse, the Commandant of the Training School.

Mr. Opoku-Agyemang commended the Ghana Police Service for its tireless role in maintaining law and order, emphasising that peace and security are fundamental to national growth.

“No nation can thrive without peace and order,” he said. “As a bank that operates across Ghana, we value safety and security as critical enablers of economic development. The work of the police is not only vital but foundational to building a prosperous country.”

He stated that the donation goes beyond mere infrastructure and serves as a gesture of gratitude for the daily sacrifices made by police officers in their duties.

"He emphasized that sometimes you put your lives on the line to safeguard others. This is precisely why we consider it crucial to meet your training requirements. An adequately trained officer plays a vital role in guaranteeing the security of all citizens," he stated.

Mr. Opoku-Agyemang also mentioned that Stanbic Bank’s mission is deeply connected to fostering national progress, noting that backing the advancement of human resources, specifically in the realm of security, is entirely consistent with their objectives.

He stated that in addition to providing financial assistance, the bank will also establish a Financial Fitness Academy for students enrolled at the institution.

This program will provide them with fundamental financial knowledge, covering aspects like managing earnings, saving money, and controlling expenditures as they move towards their careers post-graduation.

"We think that a disciplined officer should also possess good financial health. Prior to graduation, we aim to assist them in grasping how to manage their finances, make well-informed choices, and establish long-term financial security," he stated.

Upon receiving the check, ACP William Yankee Acolatse, who commands the Ho Police Training School, conveyed his deep appreciation to Stanbic Bank for their prompt assistance.

He noted that the school had long struggled with inadequate infrastructure, especially a suitable parade ground.

"The initial parade ground has been in continuous use since the founding of this institution in August 1961. However, it is no longer suitable for drills or formal ceremonies," he clarified.

We took the lead in building a new facility and contacted various organizations for assistance. We are profoundly thankful to Stanbic Bank for their substantial response.

He similarly recognized the enduring partnership with the Ghana Police Service, remembering how Stanbic Bank had previously sponsored accolades at events marking new police recruits' graduations.

"We remain optimistic that this collaboration will continue to strengthen. The assistance provided today will significantly enhance the training process for new recruits and elevate the reputation of the Ghana Police," he concluded.

Once finished, the new parade ground is anticipated to greatly improve ceremonial training and exercises, thereby enhancing the efficacy of police education and professional standards at the facility.
