Embrace the Employment Pact with Dedication – Ing Lamptey

Ho, May 8, GNA – Mr. Francis Lamptey, Chief Manager of the Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Water Limited has asked workers across the country to uphold the social contract of employment with diligence and execute their task with greater dedication to actualize the gains of national development.

He entreated employees to always seek academic progression to stay afloat and become highly relevant on the job market.

Mr Lamptey disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency, in an interview after he received a national award on May Day.

The Public Utility Workers Union (PUWU) of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ghana, has bestowed a national award on Brother Francis Lamptey, for his premium contribution to Unionism, which was presented by President John Dramani Mahama, at the May Day event in Accra.

The citation signed by Brother Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of TUC, read, “For your invaluable contribution to the Union as the first Senior Staff Union (SSU) National Divisional Chairman of the Ghana Water Limited, now a Chief Manager,” we honour you.

Mr Lamptey said hard work pays and at the time was only performing his duties diligently and never expected recognition as a national reward to be bestowed on him.

He said from the foregoing, “people are watching and observing our moves at the workplace,” and called on workers to embrace union activities as a fulcrum for progress and development.

Chief Manager Lamptey is a seasoned engineer with extensive expertise in the water industry, recognized as a distinguished fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), the International Academy of Project Managers, the global arm of the Project Management Institute, and the Chartered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants.

His broad range of skills is supported by a strong foundation of education and considerable professional experience.

He possesses a Master of Science in Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. Additional credentials consist of an international professional negotiator certificate awarded by the University of Professional Studies, also located in Ghana, along with recognition as an International Project Manager from the International Academy of Project Management. His educational path started with earning a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Geomatics Engineering at KNUST.

The recipient, boasting more than 24 years of extensive experience, has occupied various crucial roles such as Head of Digital Mapping and GIS, Project Engineer for the Brong Ahafo Region, and Area Project Manager.

Manager of the Central, Western, and Volta Regions, along with serving as the Distribution Manager across multiple areas including Central, Accra West, Brong Ahafo, and Tema.

Previously, he served as the Acting Regional Chief Manager for the Tema Region before being transferred to the Volta Region as the Regional Chief Manager over the last three years.

Mr. Lamptey has expanded his knowledge by attending over twenty local and international training sessions relevant to the water industry. Notable among these include coursework on urban water and sanitation management and finance at Cranfield University in Bedford, England; certification as an international project manager from A.M.C. International in South Africa; and comprehensive training in Total Quality Management provided by CIAMC in Ghana.

Engineer Lamptey has a strong dedication to speeding up the development of water supply infrastructures to enhance accessibility in underprivileged areas.

He is wedded to a partner and they have two kids.
