Bungoma - Governor Kenneth Lusaka has officially commissioned the Milani Dispensary, a facility set to serve approximately 10,000 residents of Bokoli Ward and expand access to essential medical services.

The recently opened center will provide care for both inpatients and outpatients, alleviating the strain on those who formerly needed to cover great distances to receive medical attention.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Lusaka emphasised his administration's commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery.
This facility aims to alleviate the strain on residents who have had to travel great distances for medical attention by providing both inpatient and outpatient services. Our primary focus remains on health. We are committed to continuously improving healthcare delivery throughout the region,” stated Lusaka.
How will Lusaka finance the new Bungoma dispensary?
Aside from the dispensary, Lusaka also declared a budget of KSh 10 million during the fiscal years 2025/2026 specifically aimed at building a theater facility at Bokoli Sub-County Hospital.

He also committed to providing 12 hospital beds for the new facility within seven days.
This initiative is part of the county administration's larger endeavor to improve public health facilities and services throughout Bungoma.
“To back this up, we have allocated KSh 10 million in the 2025/2026 budget for constructing a theater facility at Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, and I am committed to donating 12 hospital beds to Milani Dispensary within this week. These actions are intentional measures aimed at bolstering our healthcare framework and ensuring nobody gets left out,” he stated.
Lusaka launches food programme
On April 30th, Wednesday, Lusaka initiated a free Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) nutrition program designed to assist young students throughout the region.
This program aims at 90,750 kids registered in 820 ECDE centers, offering them 40 grams of nutrient-enriched gruel thrice weekly.
Governor Lusaka highlighted that the program aims to address child hunger, as this issue can impede their capacity to focus, engage in play, and learn properly.
He emphasized that a child who is properly nourished has a greater chance of thriving and becoming a future leader.
The local administration has set aside KSh 30 million for the food distribution initiative this fiscal year.
Moreover, KSh 23 million was allocated for ECDE educational resources and supplies, and KSh 25 million for tools and equipment needed for vocational training.
The enriched porridge, endorsed by county nutrition experts, is designed to tackle nutrient shortages amongst students.
A total of 141,570 kilograms of porridge have been acquired to support the program for the duration of the school term.
This all-encompassing strategy aims at enhancing nutrition, attendance rates, and academic achievements amongst young students in Bungoma County.
