Minister Unveils Reforms for Railway Schools
On Tuesday, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi held a meeting with Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. They explored extensive reform measures and potential collaborations between both levels of government. During their discussion, Railway Minister Abbasi disclosed plans to introduce changes in railway schools following Punjab’s successful educational framework. Additionally, he mentioned outsourcing these schools as part of efforts aimed at enhancing teaching quality and improving general academic standards. The duo also talked about reviving tourism via rail transport. Specifically, they considered bringing back the Changamanga tourist train service and starting new ones in Taxila along with two more sites. These projects were noted to depend upon final endorsement from the Chief Minister of Punjab before moving forward. Abbasi stressed the importance of collaboration between national and regional authorities to achieve organizational enhancements. He underscored that ‘results-driven governance’ ought to shape Pakistan’s political landscape going forward. In his view, demonstrating tangible progress within institutions could illustrate effective development strategies: "Our actions shall demonstrate what role institutions play in fostering growth."
The provincial minister called for actions against unauthorized occupations of railway property in Kasur. Consequently, the railway minister directed prompt anti-encroachment activities in Kasur, Kot Radha Kishan, Kanganpur, and Khudian districts.
Abbasi commended the governance of the Punjab government as 'excellent' and encouraged the authorities to implement a 'Clean Railway' scheme inspired by the successful 'Clean Punjab' program. Additionally, he directed regional officials to carry out anti-unauthorized encroachment drives following the methods employed in Punjab.
At the end of the meeting, Hanif Abbasi expressed his appreciation to Rana Sikandar Hayat for successfully implementing educational reforms in Punjab, emphasizing once again that political rivalry should focus on achievements and performance.
