World Health Day: QNET Supports Maternal and Newborn Health With Science-Backed Wellness Solutions

This year, as the World Health Organization (WHO) highlights the theme "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures," QNET—a rapidly expanding global direct-selling business focusing on wellness and lifestyle—has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing maternal and newborn care in developing countries.

The firm's range of products, encompassing dietary supplements and water purification systems, is progressively being framed as a community-driven answer to an unobtrusive but severe issue.

Worldwide, maternal and newborn deaths remain unacceptably high, especially in low- and middle-income nations. In 2020, approximately 287,000 women lost their lives due to issues arising during pregnancy and delivery, with these fatalities predominantly occurring in underdeveloped areas as reported by the World Health Organization.

In 2022, just two years after this observation, approximately 2.3 million infants succumbed within their initial month of existence, representing almost half of global child deaths under the age of five according to UNICEF reports. These tragic losses largely result from avoidable factors such as bleeding at childbirth, high blood pressure conditions, infectious diseases, and difficulties associated with early delivery. A key aspect in reducing these tragedies lies in ensuring adequate nourishment and clean drinking water, resources frequently inaccessible to numerous expectant mothers throughout gestation and following birth.

The cornerstone of a thriving community begins with ensuring the wellbeing of mothers and their infants," states Biram Fall, Regional General Manager for QNET Sub-Saharan Africa. "QNET is dedicated to science-based wellness solutions designed to aid women during these crucial stages of life.

One of QNET's key products is EDG3 Plus, which is formulated as a glutathione precursor blend aimed at boosting cellular repair and enhancing immune function—both critical for maternal health. Low levels of glutathione, an essential antioxidant, have been associated with various issues during pregnancy, highlighting the potential benefits of this supplement.

In addition to this, HomePure Nova, QNET’s seven-stage water purification system, seeks to tackle the ongoing problem of contaminated drinking water—a well-known carrier of diarrheal diseases and a significant factor in increased rates of illness among mothers and infants in places such as Nigeria.

Stakeholders locally recognize immediate advantages. "In Nigeria, where we persistently encounter high levels of maternal and neonatal fatalities, QNET’s offerings provide a readily available, scientifically supported addition to conventional medical care," stated Akeem Ajisafe, the Managing Director at Transblue Limited, which is QNET’s collaborator in Nigeria. Even though both governmental bodies and non-governmental organizations have made significant efforts, Nigeria remains one of the nations with some of the most alarming maternal death statistics globally – recording 512 mortalities for every 100,000 live births based on figures from The World Bank as recent as 2020.

QNET’s initiative syncs well with the overarching objectives of World Health Day 2025; however, their strategy embodies a commercially driven reaction to shortcomings in public health services. Through their distribution network, they introduce wellbeing items into areas lacking proper access while simultaneously promoting awareness about preventative healthcare measures.

At present, such initiatives are viewed as essential due to the growing recognition of their importance in addressing the shortfalls caused by overburdened healthcare systems across Sub-Saharan Africa through collaborations between private entities and government organizations.

As governments face increasing pressure to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3 -- "Good Health and Well-Being" -- programs like those of QNET might provide a model for how businesses can contribute to health equity.
