The experienced Emirati trainer Saeed bin Suroor plans to enter Godolphin’s accomplished horses, Dubai Future and Passion and Glory, into the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Meydan Racecourse. This prestigious 3,200-meter grass race carries a substantial purse of $1 million and stands out as one of the key events during the Dubai World Cup meet, featuring an overall prize fund totaling $30.5 million.
Dubai Future, a nine-year-old gelding who hasn’t raced in 14 months, is set to return to the tracks. Trainer bin Suroor believes Dubai Future is ready, stating, "Although he hasn't competed recently, I've been very satisfied with how he's trained. He has performed well at Meydan in the past, so we're hopeful of seeing strong results again." Previously, this horse showed great promise by securing three victories at Meydan and winning the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy on February 21, 2025.
Passion and Glory, one of Bin Suroor’s protégés, has also made waves internationally. Commenting on their recent displays, Bin Suroor stated, "It was incredible to secure victory at the Bahrain Trophy after several attempts, along with having the second-place finisher and an excellent additional prize. Both Dubai Future and Passion and Glory delivered outstanding shows."
The Dubai World Cup gathering is famous for drawing exceptional talents worldwide. Sheikh Rashed bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, who heads the Dubai Racing Club, emphasized the event’s significance, noting, "For the 29th edition of the Dubai World Cup, we've garnered remarkable entries from every part of the world. This underscores not only the superior equine amenities at Meydan Racecourse but also the robust reputation of the Dubai World Cup itself—a pinnacle day in international horse racing."
Bin Suroor’s remarkable track record boasts nine triumphs in the prestigious $12 million Dubai World Cup competition. Highlighting the importance of this event, he stated, "This racing event was designed to be unparalleled globally and it surpassed every expectation." Among his significant victories are the iconic Dubai Millennium from 2000 and Thunder Snow, which marked historical achievement as the first horse ever to clinch victory two times in the same race.
