Samsung Boosts Audio Presence with $3.5 Billion Masimo Acquisition

On May 7, Samsung Electronics announced that its subsidiary Harman International plans to purchase Masimo Corporation’s consumer audio division for $3.5 billion. This acquisition aims to strengthen Harman International's presence in premium audio solutions and enhance its technological capabilities within the automotive sector.

This purchase includes popular audio brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio, and Definitive Technology. According to Samsung, this merger will strengthen Harman's role in both home and automotive sound systems, providing additional benefits within their current range of products.

Samsung anticipates this agreement will strengthen Harman's dominance in the consumer audio sector, an industry anticipated to expand from $60.8 billion in 2025 to $70 billion by 2029. Last year, Harman already commanded a 60% share of the portable audio category.

In addition to strengthening brand depth, the deal brings advanced audio engineering capabilities that Samsung plans to integrate into its broader lineup of mobile devices and home appliances.

It is anticipated that the acquisition will be completed by the end of 2025.
