Prior to entering party politics, Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu worked as a professional educator and attained the pinnacle of leadership within the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT). He later moved on to serve in the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), holding positions such as Elected National President and Deputy President at different times.
In his time as a labor leader on the national stage, Nasir NUT, as he was affectionately known back then, made a positive impact on numerous individuals across various community sectors. The cordiality of the relationship between the two leaders has resulted in Presidential approvals of the revocation of Koko-Zuru federal road contract, abandoned for more than ten years and now being carried by Kebbi State government, reconstruction of Malando to Warra federal road, Maga to Gamji federal road, Natsini to Kangiwa to Kamba federal road, allocation of 250 killometers of the 1,600 killometers of Ilela to Badagary Super highway to Kebbi State, and insisting that never again, should appointments in to the Federal Government’s Boards and commissions be hijacked, among others.
These numerous advantages, including trust, complete assurance, and advantageous loyalty, have rendered Comrade Governor Nasir Idris a significant obstacle to the political aspirations of certain self-seeking and ineffectual politicians in 2027 and beyond.
Hence, we see no benefit in suggesting that these evident apprehensions drive the smear campaigns involving fabrications, malicious accusations, and detrimental criticisms aimed at Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu across various platforms. Given Nigeria’s current phase of democratic progress and heightened political consciousness, especially within Kebbi State, it must be unequivocally recognized that Governor Nasir Idris’ allegiance to President Tinubu stands firm, with unwavering dedication to maintaining APC’s cohesion among leaders and members nationwide. As he stated emphatically, “No backing down, no yielding, nor engaging in political opportunism.” Governor Nasir encouraged those involved in orchestrating these schemes as well as their accomplices to reconsider their desperate and futile actions born out of disillusionment, and prepare themselves appropriately for 2027 rather than conjuring up fictitious conflicts.
