JAMB Reports 73,844 Absentees in Mock UTME Exam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has revealed that out of those who had signed up, 73,844 students did not attend the 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

On Sunday, JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, stated, "Initially, 200,115 candidates showed interest in participation; nonetheless, two candidates subsequently withdrew, leaving a total of 200,113 registered candidates."

Out of those enrolled, 73,844 individuals did not show up for the exam, and 88 candidates did not pass the biometric verification process.

As a result, 126,181 candidates successfully took the exam, and results for 115,735 of them can now be viewed. Furthermore, 10,446 results are currently undergoing processing and will be published shortly.

Benjamin mentioned that participating in the mock UTME is not mandatory but serves as a platform to trial fresh ideas and assist students in getting ready for the actual examination.

“The mock examination serves as a trial version of the UTME, allowing the Board to test new innovations while helping candidates familiarise themselves with the CBT environment,” the board noted.

Throughout the years, this program has effectively met its goals, tackling identified shortcomings and providing candidates with essential experience for the primary exam.

JAMB recognized certain technical issues encountered during the mock exam, blaming these interruptions on the fresh elements incorporated for the upcoming 2025 main UTME.

The board deeply regrets any inconvenience faced by the candidates and values their comprehension," Benjamin stated. "The introduction of these additional measures aims to further strengthen the integrity and efficient administration of the primary UTME.

In the meantime, the Board has also stated that the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, will hold discussions with leaders of higher education institutions founded in 2025 regarding their admissions strategies.

The notification received on Sunday stated: "2025 UTME: The JAMB Registrar convenes a meeting with Leaders of Higher Educational Institutes founded in 2025 on Monday, April 14, 2025."

Applicants who participated in the practice UTME can view their scores by texting "MOCKRESULT" through SMS to either 55019 or 66019 with the same mobile number they registered with.
