MTN Nigeria Prepares to Construct Eko Atlantic HQ
MTN Nigeria, the leading telecommunications company in the nation, has disclosed its intention to build a new corporate office in Eko Atlantic City. This move aligns with those of prominent companies like First Bank, Dangote Group, and the U.S. Embassy, which have also chosen to relocate to this rapidly developing seaside commercial center.
Famous for its contemporary infrastructure, Eko Atlantic is poised to emerge as one of Nigeria’s leading business hubs.
Karl Toriola, the CEO of MTN Nigeria, verified the initiative during the unveiling of MyLagosApp at an event held in Lagos on Wednesday.
The new headquarters will establish MTN as the pioneering telecommunications firm to invest in Eko Atlantic, highlighting its faith in the city’s potential as a major commercial hub.
"Besides focusing on connectivity, we are dedicated to making long-term investments in Lagos. In line with this pledge, we have purchased property in Eko Atlantic City and plan to start construction as soon as the required machinery becomes accessible," said Toriola.
Launched in 2008, Eko Atlantic commenced land reclamation activities that year as well. It is located next to Victoria Island, which serves as Lagos' principal financial hub.
Intended as a cutting-edge business center, it has attracted the attention of companies, property developers, and prominent institutions looking for a meticulously designed urban setting.
The cost of land in this region varies between $1,050 and $1,200 for each square meter, fluctuating based on the size and position, and extra fees might increase the total expenditure.
Apart from its main offices, MTN Nigeria is constructing West Africa’s biggest Tier 4 data center on the mainland of Lagos.
This facility, designed to accommodate up to 1,500 racks, will function as a neutral interconnection point, offering connectivity services for various internet service providers (ISPs) along with cloud service companies.
"Boasting seven levels of interconnectivity, this facility will become the most advanced data center in the area, thereby reinforcing Nigeria’s role as a frontrunner in digital progress," stated Toriola.
These two initiatives underscore MTN Nigeria's dedication to both building robust infrastructure and driving technological progress, establishing the firm as a major actor in the dynamic commercial environment of Lagos.
